• 3–5 hours — A quick Giza Pyramids and Sphinx tour is possible with a private guide who can fast-track you through arrivals, but this is tight — only recommended if you’re comfortable with a fast-paced visit and no time for extras.
• 6–8 hours — Our most popular layover option. Enough time for the Pyramids, Sphinx, and either the Egyptian Museum or Sakkara, with a comfortable buffer before your next flight.
• 9–12 hours — Time to combine the Pyramids with the Egyptian Museum, Old Cairo, or Khan El Khalili Bazaar, and still have breathing room.
• 12+ hours (overnight or long stopover) — Worth considering a day trip to Alexandria, a Nile dinner cruise, or Cairo by Night, in addition to the classic Giza sites.

As a general rule of thumb: always keep at least 2–2.5 hours of buffer before your return flight’s boarding time to account for Cairo traffic and airport re-entry procedures.
