Flying to Egypt from the UAE

Cairo is well-connected to the UAE, with frequent direct flights from all three major emirates:

  • From Dubai: Emirates, EgyptAir, and Air Cairo all offer direct flights, with the route seeing around 175 flights per week — flight time is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes.
  • From Abu Dhabi: Etihad Airways, EgyptAir, and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi fly direct, taking around 3 hours 25 minutes.
  • From Sharjah: Air Arabia offers direct flights to Cairo, taking approximately 3 hours 45 minutes.

With this many daily options across the UAE, reaching Cairo is quick and convenient no matter which emirate you’re departing from.

Do You Need a Visa to Travel to Egypt from the UAE?

This depends on your passport nationality, not your UAE residency status:

  • UAE (Emirati) citizens can enter Egypt visa-free for stays of up to 14 days.
  • UAE residents holding other passports (the majority of UAE’s population) need a standard Egypt visa, available two ways:
  • eVisa, applied for in advance online through Egypt’s official portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg) — available to citizens of many countries
  • Visa on arrival at Egyptian airports for eligible nationalities (currently $30 USD, single entry, cash only)
  • A small number of nationalities (including Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Filipino passport holders) are not eligible for the eVisa or visa on arrival, and must apply in advance through the Egyptian Embassy or Consulate in the UAE.

We recommend confirming your specific visa requirement based on your passport nationality before booking, and applying at least a few days in advance if an eVisa or embassy visa is needed.
